“I am a graduate, but there are no jobs for those of us without connections…”

“Few months ago, I had to ask myself this question; ‘are you going to keep staying at home feeling bad that your parents’ investment in education hasn’t paid off?’ Mba o! I’m not going to let the economy get me depressed. So I got up from the couch, used the little money I saved up and bought these sunglasses. And here I am; walking from street to street- and helping people protect their eyes and look cool”

Lexicon Analysis: “Mba o!” is an Igbo exclamation that translates literally to ‘No’, but in this case; it more aptly means ‘Most certainly not’.

Background info:

Legendary writer Chimamanda Adichie once said, “…the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue; but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story”.

NoCoolStory is in existence for the purpose of creatively correcting the many unfair and incomplete African stereotypes through the lips of Africans.
