WHO ARE WE?
The name NoCoolStory is a metaphorical mockery of the 21st Century urban lingo “Cool Story” which is synonymous with falsehood. NoCoolStory, therefore typifies our energetic stance for the truth as well as our quest for the emancipation of the hearts, heads and hands of people anywhere and everywhere.
Our team comprises imaginative young wordsmiths and photographers churning up ideas all the way from the heart of Sub Saharan Africa. This electrical brain wave of talent contributes in a thousand and one ways to enriching the content and consistency of this magazine.
Chimamanda Adichie once said, “A single story creates stereotypes. And the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue; but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story”. This is where NoCoolStory comes in. We are committed to telling and capturing stories of everyday Africans as they tell it.
Living in America; I get riddled with questions about what life is in Africa. I spend my breaks and time off work explaining that not everyone is poor or suffers from Ebola and AIDS. NoCoolStory is my attempt to answer these questions and ensure that the mainstream media is not our only source of information about Africa.
NoCoolStory is in existence today for the sole purpose of creatively destroying the indiscriminate and incomplete African stereotypes through the lips of Africans.
